📌What You’ll Need
Unflavored gelatin – these are the .25 ounce packets of powder.
Room temperature water and Boiling water
Fragrance oil (any scent you love!)
Liquid food coloring – we do not recommend using gel food coloring, it does not mix as well.
Mason jars with lids – 4 ounce jars are the perfect size. You can use regular lids, but frog lids definitely look more aesthetic and a fancier.

✨How to a Make DIY Air Fresheners
Sprinkle your unflavored gelatin over room temperature water in a bowl. Stir lightly to moisten all the powder, then let it rest for about 5 minutes.

Carefully pour boiling water into the bowl and stir until everything is fully dissolved.

Add a couple teaspoons of your favorite fragrance oil and stir well.

Mix in a drop or two of food coloring to give your air freshener some flair.

Divide the mixture evenly into your jars. Leave them uncovered and let them sit overnight to firm up.

Place them around your home or in your car for a fresh scent that lasts!

Fun Variations to Try
Seasonal vibes: Try cinnamon and orange for fall, peppermint for winter, or lavender for a spa-like feel.
Layered look: Add one color, let it set halfway, then add another color on top for a fun ombré effect. This will take longer to make, but really adds a special touch.
Mini jars: Use tiny baby food jars for a compact version that’s great for bathrooms or closets.
Gift sets: Make a trio of scents in coordinating colors for a sweet homemade gift.

💡Helpful Tips
- A little food coloring goes a long way! One drop gives you a soft tint, while three will be more vibrant.
- Don’t use gel food dye, it doesn’t dissolve properly and leaves clumps.
- Your gel air fresheners will last about three weeks, depending on your scent strength and environment.
- If you’re using mason jars, you can remove the metal insert and just screw the ring on for ventilation.
- When the scent fades, simply rinse out the jar and make a fresh batch!
Making your own gel air fresheners is quick, easy, and totally worth it. With just a few ingredients and endless scent possibilities, you’ll have fun creating a home that smells amazing—your way. Keep a few for yourself and gift the rest!
