📌What You’ll Need

Saran Wrap – we used 3-4 rolls last year.

Oven Mitts – use the cheap kind that doesn’t have any silicone on it to make unwrapping harder.

Pair of Dice

Pan – this is to pass to each player so they can roll the dice in it.

Trinkets and Prizes to Go in

Printable Coal Cards & Challenge cards – grab our feel printables at the bottom of this post to add another layer of excitement.

✨Making the Saran Wrap Ball

You will be making the center of the ball first. We always put the best prizes closest to here. In the past we have done a 20 dollar bill for the big prize in the middle, but you can choose.

Wrap some extra layers of saran wrap around this one.

Then start adding in small prizes along the way.

We did a couple of pieces of candy, then a lotto ticket, a couple more layers of saran wrap, then a bigger prize.

You also want to tear off the plastic wrap and go in different directions to make the unwrapping process a little harder.

As you go you want to make sure you keep it in a ball shape. It gets huge and will start to go lopsided if you aren’t careful.

Saran Wrap Game Prizes

Last year I ordered a bunch of little items and small prizes from Temu because they were so much cheaper. Here’s what we have put in the ball in the past.

Keep in mind we were playing with older kids and mostly adults, so we tried to have girl and boy prize ideas in there.

🎲How to Play the Saran Wrap Christmas Game

You can let the youngest person go first or roll one die and whoever gets the highest number starts.

From there, the first player will put on the oven mitts.

Pass the dice in the pan to the next person on the left.

The will roll the dice as the person starts to try to unwrap the big cling wrap ball.

Once the dice roller rolls doubles of any number (we like to yell out DOUBLES), the person must immediately stop unwrapping.

They will collect their prizes if any fell out and pass the ball to the next person.

Then you will repeat the process for the entire time until you get to the grand prize in the middle.

💫Saran Wrap Ball Game Rules

Don’t forget, once the person rolls doubles you HAVE to stop unwrapping.

The giant ball of plastic wrap cannot be sat on the floor to help unroll. It must stay in your hands at all times.

If they uncover a Challenge Card, they must complete the challenge before continuing.

If they uncover a Coal Card, they must follow the instructions on the card, even if it means losing their turn or passing the ball!

💡Helpful Tips

  • We love laminating our card sets to make them last longer.
  • For the highest quality feel use a nice heavy card stock.
  • Check ink levels before printing. No printer? Local print shops can help, and they are usually reasonably priced or you can check an online print shop.
  • If you have a small group you will need less prizes unless you want the holiday game to go on for longer.
  • We try to make sure everyone leaves with a couple of party favors so we put extra in ours.
  • This Christmas ball game can be played no matter how big or small of a group of people you have.
  • Add larger prizes in less often to stay on a budget and make the suspense even better.

Merry Christmas! I know your next holiday party is going to be a huge hit when playing the plastic wrap ball game! It is a lot of fun, great for groups, to play at home and at the office!
