🌟What’s Included
This printable game comes in two versions. The first printable has the regular way of playing. The second comes with a tic tac toe game board and game pieces that include Santa Claus and a reindeer.
📌What You’ll Need
- Paper – to print the PDF file that contains the game; you may also want to use cardstock as well for them to look nicer.
- Printer
- Scissors or paper trimmer – to cut out the reindeer and Santa pieces if using.
- Pens/pencils – if you are using the printable board without the pieces you won’t need these other than keeping score.
- *Optional – laminator or sheet protectors – this is a great way to make the tic tac toe board reusable without using tons of ink and paper. They also have self laminating sheets that are a little more expensive, but you don’t have to have the actual machine.
✨Christmas Tic Tac Toe Instructions
The goal is to be the first player to get three of your marks (X or O) in a row (or 3 santas/reindeer). The row can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal.
Instructions:
- Player 1 chooses whether to be X or O and makes the first move by placing their mark (X or O) in one of the empty squares on the grid.
- Player 2 then places their mark in any empty square.
- The players take turns placing their marks in empty squares, trying to get three in a row while also blocking their opponent from doing the same.
- The game ends when the first person places three of their marks in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally), or when all the squares are filled without a winner. In the latter case, the game is a draw or tie.
Winning the Game:
- A player wins if they can place three of their marks in a row—horizontally, vertically, or diagonally—before their opponent does.
Draw/Tie:
- If all nine squares are filled without either player getting three in a row, the game is declared a tie, and players can start a new round.

Once you have the game printed, use scissors or a paper trimmer to cut around each card.
💡Helpful Tips
- We love laminating our printables to make them last longer.
- For the best quality use nice heavy white cardstock, but you can also use regular printer paper too.
- Check ink levels before printing. No home printer? Local print shops can help, and they are usually reasonably priced or you can check an online print shop.
- If you need another size other than US Letter, check your printer settings.
