📌What You’ll Need

Twine Eggs – these are from Dollar Tree that come with picks attached.

Orange Chalk Paint – I used Waverly in the color of pumpkin.

Paintbrush

Greenery Picks – use those that look like a boxwood.

Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks – I LOVE this hot glue gun! It’s cheap and rechargeable.

✨How to a Make Easter Carrots Using Plastic Eggs

Apply two coats of chalk paint to each twine egg, allowing the paint to dry completely between coats.

Once dry, use the stick from the egg to widen the hole where it was inserted.

Add a small dab of hot glue to the hole if desired, then pull pieces from the boxwood pick and insert them into the hole to create the “carrot greens.”

Wrap a piece of ribbon around the zip tie to hide it, then add ribbon tails and trim them to your liking.

Adjust the boxwood pieces to ensure they look even and secure, and your carrot eggs are ready to display!

Add to your favorite pot!

💡Helpful Tips

  • Use chalk paint for better coverage: If using acrylic paint, expect to apply additional coats for a vibrant orange finish.
  • Secure the greens: If you’re displaying these outdoors or in a high-traffic area, the hot glue will help keep the boxwood in place.
  • Mix up the greenery: Try using other types of faux greenery if boxwood isn’t available to create a different look.
  • Customize the color: Experiment with lighter or darker shades of orange for a more personalized touch.
  • Display ideas: These carrot eggs look great in a basket, arranged in a centerpiece, or used as table decor.
  • If you can’t find the Dollar Tree twine eggs, you can wrap plain plastic eggs in twine for a similar effect.Boxwood picks from craft stores or even leftover faux greenery from previous projects work perfectly for the “carrot tops.”
  • Use these as part of an Easter egg hunt for a unique twist—kids will love finding “carrots” instead of eggs.

These Dollar Tree Carrot Eggs are a simple and fun way to bring some handmade charm to your Easter celebrations. Happy crafting!
