This free printable Thanksgiving scattergories game is so much fun for kids of all ages, and is even great for the whole family! There are 4 different versions to choose from!
Any time we have family gatherings I always have some fun themed printables ready to go! It’s also a great way to add a little fun to the classroom for when students have a little down time. After Thanksgiving dinner, its game time! Also, when it comes to family game night trivia and word games are my jam!
Another exciting Thanksgiving game that really revs everyone up is Thanksgiving Pictionary! You can also switch it up to be Thanksgiving Charades by using the same clues but just acting instead of drawing.
If you want to try another version we have fall scattergories too. Here’s a little tip for younger children, print out our Thanksgiving activity placemats to line their table before dinner to help cut down on the chaos!

✨Thanksgiving Scattergories Game Instructions
You can play this fun game a few different ways depending on the age of the players.
- Print out the categories game sheets after you have downloaded. Double check your printer settings beforehand.
- Each person will get a game card. Carve is spelled across the top. There are 4 versions to choose from, so there are other Thanksgiving words as well.
- For each letter there is a category down the the side. The object is to come up with unique words for each of the categories starting with the letters C, A, R, V, E. But the answers must start with that letter of the alphabet.
- We play that the first one who fills all of them in first wins! You can also set a time limit and choose the winner based on who has the most filled out before the timer runs out.
*Try to write a unique answer for each letter.
For teachers this isn’t just a fun Thanksgiving party game, it also encourages critical thinking skills!

💡Helpful Tips
- We love laminating our printable games to make them last longer.
- If you want a more professional look or if you want the game to look a little prettier, use heavy white card stock. The paper weight will vary, but as a reference regular printer paper is about 20lbs.
- Check ink levels before printing. No home printer? Your local print shop can help, and they are usually reasonably priced or you can check an online print shop.
- If you need another size other than US Letter, check your printer settings.
