Fizzy Halloween Pumpkin Experiment

A fun Halloween science activity where kids create bubbling jack-o-lantern potions! Safe, hands-on, and packed with fizz, sparkle, and not-so-spooky fun.

Supplies & Materials

  • Clear plastic bottle lid removed
  • Black marker or jack-o-lantern stickers
  • Baking soda 2–3 tbsp
  • Orange food coloring
  • Orange glitter
  • White vinegar
  • Funnel or spoon
  • Tray or bin to catch spills

Instructions

  • Decorate bottle with a jack-o-lantern face.
  • Place bottle in a tray to contain fizz.
  • Add 2–3 tablespoons baking soda.
  • Mix in orange food coloring + glitter.
  • Slowly pour vinegar and watch it bubble!
  • Repeat with different amounts to experiment.

Notes

  • Use gel food coloring for brighter fizz.
  • Add glitter last so it stays on top of the bubbles.
  • Try droppers for slower fizzing fun.
  • Do this activity outside for easy cleanup.
